Group Soundbath ceremonies might be my favorite part of the work that I do, probably because they are so simple and yet I so often hear such incredible results from the people who attend. At its core, a Soundbath ceremony is simply an hour of time spent in a comfortable and relaxing position, usually on a yoga mat or blanket, while a practitioner uses a set of instruments to create combinations of sounds that bring out positive neural and chemical responses in your body. The soundbaths that I perform use a set of large crystal glass singing bowls that resonate to frequencies specifically attuned to the different primary energy systems in the body, and because of this it is not uncommon to feel many real, physical sensations in the body during a meditation. The benefits to receiving the sound based vibrational therapy from a Soundbath include and range from better sleep and digestion, heightened mental acuity and creative clarity, relaxation of anxious nervous systems and even sometimes a shift in perspective.
I hold group Soundbaths regularly, usually on Sundays at 1 and Thursdays at 7, at the Healing Center on the first floor of 247 Walnut st in Brookline. Tickets are 25 dollars either through eventbrite or by cash/venmo when you arrive. All I ask for those paying in person is to email me at IbAndFlow@gmail.com to notify me of your plan to attend. Private group and individual Soundbath ceremonies are available upon request via email, and can hold up to 12 people.
The location is a little bit tucked away, so please read the instructions and follow the signs carefully to make sure you you arrive at the right place and on time. The building is an old historic home, behind an existing house on walnut street. To get there, follow the long driveway (that used to be the street in another lifetime) marked 247. There will be a sign at the top directing you down, and you’ll quickly see the building on your left. On the main porch, there will be another sign directing you inside, and the large room inside directly to your left is the sound healing space. I’ll be there to greet you when you arrive. Parking on the street is free and legal without permit, so feel free to drive without expecting hassle to park. Please do not park in the driveway however.
Make sure to bring a yoga mat if you would like some extra cushion, though I have comfy blankets and a few extra mats to share for those who need them, and wear comfy clothes to have the best experience. I ask generally to leave children under 16 at home, though I will be adding a special family day for those who would like to share the experience with their children since some have asked and I have seen that children as young as 10 can respond very positively. I also ask that anyone with a pacemaker, or who is pregnant, not to come, as the nature of the vibrational therapy can affect those people potentially harmfully. In truth, I’m not as sure about how it would affect those pregnant, but I am unwilling to take that risk.
